James – pt. 21

James 5:13-20

Prayer is powerful.

It is our direct line of communication through Christ and the Spirit to our almighty God.

We should pray for ourselves. Pray for each other. Pray when things are good, and pray when things are bad. Pray to thank and honor God. Pray to ask Him for help. Pray to ask for forgiveness. Pray for physical healing and spiritual healing.

Just remember, as in Matthew 6:10 and James 4:15, to pray for God’s will to be done.

“The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”

A righteous person will pray fervently, and will also pray to be in line with God, in tune with His Spirit.

Our time of prayer draws us closer to the Father. It reminds us who we are and Who we serve. The all-powerful God who, as Paul says in Ephesians 3:14-21, empowers us, strengthens us, loves us, gives us understanding, and works through us.

Then, in verses 19-20, he lets us know we are to take care of each other. When we see that a fellow Christian is straying from the Truth, we should help them find the Way again, to save them from death where they can have Life.
